Our ongoing research activities involve the molecular characterization of pararetroviral promoters for designing efficient native promoters and/or chimeric promoters for enhanced gene expression in transgenic plants. The promoters so designed will be evaluated for the presence of salient cis-regulatory elements and the cognate trans-acting factors. The various DNA regulatory elements are assessed for their binding with transcription factors of the TGA and WRKY family. Our group is working on the analysis of these promoters in driving the expression of various biotic and abiotic stress response genes and genes of pharmaceutical importance in planta. We are also working to find elite miRNA responsible for plant growth and development. In addition, our group is also working to decipher the molecular and physiological role of WRKY TFs in pearl millet (Pennisetum Glaucum) under environmental stress conditions.

•  Development of chimeric promoters using Intra/Intermolecular shuffling of pararetrovival promoter sequences for translational research.

• Functional characterization of stress-specific transcription factors in pearl millet (Pennisetum Glaucum).

• CRISPR-Cas9/dCas9 mediated genome editing in crop plants for improving stress tolerance and nutritional index.

• Identification of novel microRNAs and their targets during ectopic expression of AtFt in Tobacco
